Hospital Estadual de Vila Velha "Dr. Nilton de Barros" (HESVV), formerly known as Hospital dos Ferroviários, was incorporated into the Espírito Santo public health network on June 23, 2014, to serve the population through the Unified Health System (SUS). Over the past decade, HESVV has become a key reference for clinical care, especially for patients requiring medium and long-term hospitalization and palliative care. The hospital is 100% referenciado, meaning it only receives patients referred from other health units, and is known for its patient-centered approach and continuous improvement in care processes. In recent years, the hospital has expanded its palliative care services, established a dedicated multidisciplinary Palliative Care Unit, and enhanced its infrastructure, including new monitoring centers and a transfusion agency
